What is breast symmetrisation?

- Breast symmetrisation is surgery to reduce a marked difference between the two breasts in size, shape or nipple position. It may combine more than one technique and is used both for naturally asymmetrical breasts and to match a reconstructed breast after cancer treatment.

How is asymmetry corrected?
Depending on the difference, one breast may be augmented, reduced or lifted to match the other, or both adjusted to meet in the middle. The plan is tailored to you.
Is some asymmetry normal?
Yes. Almost everyone has some natural difference between their breasts. Surgery is considered when the difference is marked and affects confidence or clothing.
Can it be done after cancer surgery?
Yes. Symmetrisation of the unaffected breast is a recognised part of reconstructive care after cancer treatment.
